Improvement on Structured Coaching: Rob Willcocks Story

Jan 24, 2013

robwillcocks.jpgThere is only so much we can tell you about why personalised structured coaching works.  But you know what?  Maybe it's time to hear it from one of our athletes.

Rob Willcocks is in the Royal Air Force.  As you can imagine (leave the Top Gun images for the moment) this can be a very demanding and stressful role. With odd hours changing daily, often being called into work at a moments notice and unable to be more than 5 minutes away when on call.  You could say Rob has a few extra constraints compared to most.

Dig Deep Coaching's Gary McKeegan is Rob's coach and in Rob's words:

' Gary needs a commendation for coaching me...somehow Gary persisted and set my training to reflect my unorthodox working hours and the results spoke for themselves'.

With structured coaching Rob was able to defend his RAF Road Race Champs title, add the Track Champs and Hill Climb Champs to his palmares.  All of which happened after a very bad crash in May 2012 which required minor surgery in hospital on his knee, this took Rob out of the race scene for the rest of the year, he worked at the Olympics for the whole summer so had no time to train, let alone recover! But still managed to compete and take his wins this year and very much deserved.

2013 race season has already kicked off for Rob this year, it was closed circuit, after getting in the winning break he finished 4th in the sprint.

We are so delighted to learn of how the coaching has worked for Rob.

All the best for this year Rob and also for your new job you recently started!  Go out and smash it!
