An Post- Sean Kelly Team
Since I was a kid but I got my first race bike in 2003 and had my first racing season in 2005.
I think I was intrigued by road racing and the Tour de France and a friend gave me the "Sean Kelly Story" video which really inspired me.
I love the buzz and excitement of racing and pushing yourself to the limit and I love trying to lift that limit higher and achieving goals.
I have short medium and long term goals. The short term tend to be changed or reset at the end of every season and focus on races I like and feel suit me best.
I thought it was good until I started working with Barry from Dig Deep Coaching and he really opened my eyes and showed me how much a difference good nutrition can make. I feel it is very good now.
Training specifically is what it takes to perform in road races and not just riding around aimlessly.
Dedication, self belief and a tough mentality.
To sign a protour contract and be national champion.
There are so many bits of advice that I could say really worked for me, from a training point of view I would have to say that "quality over quantity" was a big one for me and from a racing point of view, someone once told me when I'm suffering in a race to have a look around and I'd notice that most people are suffering to and when I look around in a race and see other people suffering to that really helps me dig deeper. It sounds obvious but alot of the time its easy to forget.
From people who I know personally who have made it to the top of our sport and from past disappointments.
I put my improvements down largely to two things - training with a power meter and improved nutrition.
